What is Design?
Design is an intentional process that is utilized when attempting to take an idea out of one’s mind and put it into the physical world. It is powerful and crucial since it is a driving force that develops art into provoking particular emotions, thoughts, and messages. Essentially, it is what makes things make sense.
I believe that design is everywhere and helps us function every day of our lives. That is because intentional designs are not only behind your typical pieces of art, but it’s also behind the creation of everyday objects we use. Design helps us make sense of the world by giving hints about how we should view or use things and draw meaning from them. For example, as I type this, I can feel the little ridges on the “F” and “J” keys which allow me to correctly position my hands on the keyboard and develop a sense of where each letter is without looking. Without design, our lives would be way more difficult and chaotic than it already is.
