I am interested in developing my illustrations skills(view my progress here), so I like looking at her work to observe how to simplify forms to their essence. Her work is simplified, but in order to do it as well-done as her, it is visible that there's an great understanding of the correct proportions of real-life forms which has allowed her to develop her own unique style by pushing the boundaries of those proportions. I also enjoy her style because as someone that gets inspiration from the clothing, I appreciate the patterns incorporated into her work that are often inspired by fashion and textiles as well. The color palettes she uses in combination with her illustration style and patterns gives her work a very retro but contemporary feel to me, and it’s enjoyable to look at. I love when retro styles are incorporated into contemporary designs, and it’s one of my favorite fusions to see in design. Something about her work that I also appreciate is that it is very telling about where she’s from. The cityscape backgrounds and clothing in her work make a strong connection back to the New York lifestyle she's currently living in which makes her work feel a bit more personal.
